Solution :

If you have ‘root’ SSH access to the server then, simply open the file /var/cpanel/horde/version using your favorite editor and you’ll be able to see the current Horde version.

Issue :

Following message occurs every time when trying to connect to an own dedicated server from other servers.

Access Denied: Referrer Check

Functions in cPanel / WHM are available only directly through the cPanel and WHM interfaces or through our XML API. It appears that this request is coming from a referring site and might be malicious. Administrator Note: If new ips
were recently bound to this server manually you must restart cpsrvd.

Fix :

The message says it all. Isn’t it?

But if you still want to prevent this message from coming up every time you try to connect then disable the following option in WHM >> Tweak Settings >> Security section :

Only permit cpanel/whm/webmail to execute functions when the browser provided referrer (Domain/IP and Port) exactly matches the destination URL. This will help prevent XSRF attacks, but may break integration with other systems, login applications, and billing software. Cookies are required with this option enabled.

Issue :

The following error occurs while trying to login to any webmail client :

Internal Server Error
Unable to load featurelist ‘default’: Permission denied

Fix :

1. Log in to the server via SSH as ‘root’.
2. Open the file /etc/cpupdate.conf and make sure CPANEL=manual.
3. Run /scripts/upcp –force

This should fix the issue!

Issue :

Webmail for an email account stopped working after the password was changed. It said ‘password updated successfully’ but when trying to login again via webmail, following error occurred :
invalid username or password
Mail quota and disk space usage for the email account is fine.

Fix :

Try running the cPanel script — /scripts/fixpop
If that does not fix the issue then try recreating the email account itself.

Issue :

While trying to send email, following error occurs in Horde/Squirrelmail :
535 Incorrect authentication data

Fix:

This usually occurs when the option “Allow mail account authentication using the password of the domain owner’s account” in WHM -> Server Configuration -> Tweak Settings is enabled.
Webmail logs you in but attempts to use the cPanel account password via SMTP. Hence. the problem.

Disable the option and check.
If this does not fix the issue then try running /scripts/upcp

Issue :

Forwarding of ‘/webmail’ to cPanel’s webmail interface needs to be disabled. However, users should be able to access webmail using ports 2095/2096

Solution :

Follow the steps below :

1. Open /usr/local/cpanel/APACHE_CONFIG in your favorite editor.

2. Find the lines that reference /webmail

3. Add the following to the beginning of each line that contains /webmail:

*REMOVE*

( Make certain there is a space after the final * )

4. Save your changes and exit the editor

5. Execute /scripts/check_cpanel_apache_aliases

Make few changes to your VitualHost entries for the domain (cpanel.domain.com and webmail.domain.com) so that you needn’t install cpanel proxy on the server to access the cPanel and webmail via the ports 2082 and 2095.

This will let you access cPanel and webmail at port 80.

For cPanel: Add the following entries in the VirtualHost entry of the domain “cpanel.domain.com”

ProxyPass / http://localhost:2082/
ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:2082/
ProxyPreserveHost On

For Webmail: Add the following entries in the VirtualHost entry of the domain “webmail.domain.com”

ProxyPass / http://localhost:2095/
ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:2095/
ProxyPreserveHost On

Once this is added, you will be able to access cPanel and Webmail using the URLs :

http://cpanel.domain.com/

http://webmail.domain.com/

Issue :

When an user logs into webmail , he should just have one email client ( say roundcube ) whereas all other users should see all the three.

Solution :

Suppose the username is ‘xyzco’ for the domain xyz.com.

1. SSH into the server as root, and edit the file /var/cpanel/users/xyzco

2. Now, if you want to disable all webmail applications and enable roundcube mail, you would need to add following lines:

skiphorde=1
skipsqmail=1
skiprcmail=0

You can specify the values as per your requirement.

3. Then run the following command :

/scripts/updateuserdomains

4. And restart cPanel :

/etc/init.d/cpanel restart

Now, when the user xyzco logs into webmail, he will only see roundcube mail, and not the other two

Issue :

How to disable options like ‘Change Password’,'Auto Responders’ etc in the webmail interface?

Fix :

Try this :

1. Go to /usr/local/cpanel/base/webmail/
2. Get into the theme directory that you are using.
3. Open the index.html page and comment out the relevant entries.

This should resolve the problem.

Issue :

webmail.domain.tld does not work.

Fix :

1. Create an ‘A’ record for the sub-domain ‘webmail’ in the DNS zone file. It should look like :

localhost.domain.com. IN A 127.0.0.1
domain.com. IN MX 0 domain.com.
mail IN CNAME domain.com.
www IN CNAME domain.com.

2. Put the following code inside .htaccess in the sub-domain folder ( virtual sub-domain which doesn’t have an entry in httpd.conf

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.webmail.domain.com$
RewriteRule ^.*$ “http\:\/\/domain\.com\/webmail” [R=301,L]

Issue :

Horde webmail screen of a domain is displaying a blank screen.

Cause :

May be due to recent PHP upgrade. You may find the following entries in error log (/etc/httpd/logs/error_log)

php_admin_value include_path “/usr/share/psa-horde/lib:/usr/share/psa-horde:/usr/share/psa-horde/pear:.”

Restart Apache
