An Active Directory is a directory structure used on Microsoft Windows based computers and servers to store information and data about networks and domains. Here are some of the important parameters used in Active Directory.

Object: An object is anything that can be part of the directory. e.g: user, group, shared folder, printer etc.

Organizational Unit: It is a Active Directory container into which you can place users, groups, computers, and other organizational units in a hierarchial manner for ease of administration or management.

Domain: A domain is a collection of objects. The benefits of a domain are Centralized Administration – Management of the entire domain can be done with access to one database.

Single Logon Process – Access to network resources can be granted through a single logon.

Scalability – Very large networks can be created.

Organizational Unit: An organizational unit is a container with objects.

Tree: Trees are a collection of one or more Domains.

Forest: A forest is a collection of Trees.

Schema: The structure of Active Directory Domain Service database is the schema. A schema is a set of attributes used to describe a particular object in Active Directory.

Trust: A trust is a relationship established between two or more domains to allow users in one domain to be authenticated by a domain controller in another domain.

Issue :

WHM does not let you create an account with the domain name having native characters of certain languages.

Fix :

To get around this, go to IDN Conversion Tool.
Enter your domain name and get the equivalent PunyCode.
You should be able to add that via WHM

Issue :

Domain does not exist error message occurs when accessing the web directories of a domain in Plesk.

The following error message is displayed in ‘Web Directories’ when accessing it from the domain management section :

WebServerManager::getWebDirs() failed: websrvmng failed: Site domain.com doesn’t exist

Solution :

The error message means that domain.com is either absent or not configured in IIS. The site needs to be configured using the following commands:

“plesk_bin\websrvmng.exe”—remove-vhost—vhost-name=domain.com
“plesk_bin\websrvmng.exe”—reconfigure-vhost –vhost-name=domain.com

Issue :

While accessing the subfolder of an addon domain using
httpd://www.addondomain.com/subfolder
the URL changes to
httpd://www.subdomain.maindomain.com/subfolder
but at the same time,
httpd://www.addondomain.com/subfolder/ (the one with trailing slash) works fine.

Fix :

This issue can be fixed by changing the ServerName entry in httpd.conf.

Change
ServerName subdomain.maindomain.com
to
ServerName addondomain.com
